Thanksgiving Travel Tips in Florida

We’re well into November now which means that, in just a few weeks, Thanksgiving will be here. Here at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln, we have some helpful Thanksgiving travel tips to make your life much easier this holiday season!

Thanksgiving Travel Tips - Inverness, Florida

  • Technology – Technology has become ingrained into our society, so use it to your advantage this holiday season. Navigation systems and smartphones can track traffic jams and reports in real time, which means avoiding road hazards is easier than ever. Plan your course based on time or distance and hit the road!
  • Flight – Flying during the Thanksgiving holiday is stressful, no doubt. The day before Thanksgiving marks the busiest travel day of the year. That’s why it’s important to plan ahead. Make travel arrangements now rather than next week and be prepared to leave for the airport at least three hours in advance.
  • Packing – More luggage means more problems. Pack light this holiday season and ship your extra clothes and various belongings to your destination by mail. Doing so ensures less hassle packing the car and fewer baggage fees if you plan on flying.

The 5-Star Safety Ratings Program: What Is It, Where to Find Scores

Lincoln Welcomes Customers with Customized Showroom ScentFord logo

One of the most reliable ways to determine the safety of vehicle is to check it the safety rating it was assigned by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which has been scoring vehicles’ safety since 1978.

The NHTSA’s 5-Star Safety Ratings Program has been continually evolving since then, adapting to the latest safety technology. Today, the program evaluates both crash protection and rollover safety, making its scores remarkably thorough. In fact – the NHTSA is the only organization that rates rollover resistance as well as frontal and side crash protection.

The scoring is simple. There are five possible stars that a vehicle can earn, where only receiving one star is the worst possible score and five stars is equivalent to the best possible score. Any vehicle that gets a 5-Star Safety Rating from the NHTSA reflects the best that the industry has to offer, while 4-Star vehicles are also impressively safe.

You can look up the specific safety ratings of vehicles here, at, to see where your prospective vehicle lies on the spectrum. One thing is for sure: when it comes to safety ratings, the NHTSA has your back.

Every week, the NFL will announce the offensive line of the week. This “Built Ford Tough” award will highlight some of the toughest players that succeeded that week. These will be awarded by Shaun O’Hara, a former lineman and current analyst. We are proud to support these players and their quest for greatness.

For those of us not in New York, there will be a “Build Ford Tough Tailgate Tour” coming to games around the country. By attending these tour events, you may even find some tickets to games that are otherwise sold out!

There will also be an opportunity to enter a drawing for two tickets to the 2017 Superbowl. In addition, you could also win a new 2017 Ford Super Duty truck, customized for your team!

New Lincoln Continental Displayed at Auto China 2016

Lincoln made some waves earlier this year when the brand teased and then revealed the upcoming new Lincoln Continental, which will be going into its 10th generation when the model goes on sale late this fall. While Lincoln has been quiet about the Continental since then, the car recently reappeared at the Auto China 2016 event in Beijing, where it will become the fifth model in Lincoln’s lineup to ever launch in China when the all-new Continental makes its fall debut sometime between September and December of this year.

Unlike most full-size luxury sedans, the 2017 Continental will be utilizing similar platforms and powertrains to the Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion in the form of the CD4 front-wheel drive system, whereas most competitors in the premium sedan segment come with rear-wheel drive. The new Continental is also expected to offer an all-wheel drive option with Dynamic Torque Vectoring. Additionally, the Continental is receiving an all-new, exclusive 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with an output of up to 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Lincoln has yet to unveil information on the 2017 Continental’s transmission, but industry experts agree that it will likely come standard with a 9-speed automatic.

Other features in the new Lincoln Continental include a 360-degree camera, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, front seats with 30-way adjustments referred to as ‘Perfect Position Seats,’ an advanced climate control system, and more. The next-generation Continental will be manufactured in the U.S. at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan ahead of the vehicle’s fall 2016 release.
