Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey’s Lincoln commercial features what is now a viral performance from the Oscar-winning actor, who has helped to bring Lincoln closer to its former glory. With the ad circulating through multiple media platforms, Lincoln can report it has had its best October sales since 2007.
The total of the jump came as a 25% sales boost, equating to 8,883 cars, over the course of October. Of all the cars that progressed, the McConaughey-approved MKC small crossover sport-utility vehicle might just stand out, having its best month since it premiered on showroom floors in May.
While parodies poke fun at the ad, the notoriety is well worth the jabs. The overall views of all the parodies reach about 12 million in total. Views mean exposure and exposure means more of you getting a chance to see the true face of Lincoln. With a $5 billion investment in the works over a 5-year span, there’s a lot we’ll have to show you in the coming years!
We here at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln have to applaud McConaughey’s dedication to his partnership with Lincoln through this ad and hope to see him hop in a Lincoln again in the future!
New Lincoln MKC Named CUV of Texas at Truck Rodeo
After much deliberation, the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) has named the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC the Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas, as well as the Luxury Crossover Vehicle, at the annual Truck Rodeo.
The 2015 Lincoln MKC stood out among tough competition by seamlessly blending performance, craftsmanship, and technology for luxury buyers who seek a personal experience. It is the second of four all-new Lincoln of vehicles set to appear at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln by 2016, featuring a wide array of premium amenities and technologies with a focus on comfort and convenience.
It’s also powered by a refined, powerful, and efficient all-EcoBoost engine lineup that delivers impressive strength while keeping fuel economy as low as possible.
“We are delighted that the Texas Auto Writers Association recognized the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC as the best in two categories among an outstanding group of competitors,” said Kumar Galhotra, president of Lincoln. “In particular, to be named Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas is a tremendous honor.”
The Detroit News reports that the Lincoln Motor Company has reached out to Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey to make his distinctive Southern drawl the official voice of Ford’s luxury brand.
“Matthew is a natural fit with Lincoln and where we are going as a brand,” said Matt VanDyke, the director of global Lincoln. “The transformation of Lincoln is well under way. With the MKC coming to market in a hot, competitive segment, now is the perfect opportunity to share to a wider audience what our brand offers. Matthew is the ideal personality to help us tell this story, and it is only the beginning of what we trust will be a fantastic relationship.”
“Authenticity is a word that kept coming up in our initial meetings,” said McConaughey. “It was clear from the start they appreciated me as an individual first and foremost, and I would be able to be myself in this collaboration. Lincoln is an iconic, American brand and I like where they are heading with their transformation. I had the chance to drive the new MKC around Texas and I think they’re doing a good job.”
Although the ads have yet to premiere, a new video shows McConaughey driving the all-new Lincoln MKC, and saying that once you’re inside the quiet, luxury SUV, “it is a good example of shutting out the world.” To find out if you share the True Detective star’s thoughts on the MKC’s driving experience, stop by Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln and test drive one today.
If you want to reach younger audiences, the place to find them is online. That is why Lincoln is using social media to promote the new Lincoln MKC.
One of the first parts of its new campaign is an interactive online video experience called “Dream Ride.” Viewers can connect with their social media accounts and become part of an adventure as they chase down a pickpocket, and can even use their computer mouse to look around the scene and explore the features inside the MKC.
Lincoln is partnering with digital network, strategy, and design studio Largetail to help promote “Dream Ride.” Largetail then brought what it calls “social media influencers” like Bravo TV’s Andy Cohen, music duo Johnnyswim, and automotive journalist Kimatni Rawlins on board to join in the “Dream Ride” experience.
“Content marketing is a vital part of reaching younger audiences,” said Andrew Frick, group marketing manager, Lincoln, in a statement. “We collaborated with Largetail on our ‘Hello, Again’ campaign last year and approached them about taking it a step further with the launch of MKC. As we enter the small premium utility segment, we know it’s important to authentically engage customers according to their lifestyle, especially when they are still getting to know our new brand.”

In the final stop in the “Lincoln MKC: Engage Your Senses” tour, Lincoln explored the sense of sound with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Soo Kang, interior design chief for Lincoln, joined with James Smelser, horn player for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, to explore the similarities between sound and harmonious design.
Kang has a strong appreciation for both music and design as she is a trained harpist and considered a career in music. The two disciplines have more in common than you might think. Both require balance and harmony to produce the ideal product.
“In the Lincoln MKC interior, the big and small shapes play off each other, just as with the big and small notes in a music piece,” Kang said at the event.
Inside, the 2015 Lincoln MKC features a quiet interior that can block out many outside noises. This leaves a calm interior. When you want to engage your sense of hearing, turn on the available enhanced THX II Certified Audio System to experience a rich and immersive sound.

Lately, the Lincoln MKC can’t help but be in the center of the conversation. With a mixture of form and function that would stop even those who aren’t car fanatics in their tracks, it’s easy to see why it is. That’s why it really came as no surprise that the Lincoln MKC was once again the key point of discussion at the Boston Museum of Science, the fourth stop on the “Lincoln MKC: Engage Your Senses” tour.
At the Lincoln MKC tour at the Boston Museum of Science, two different disciplines—luxury automotive and bridge design—were able to come together and discuss how to combine show-stopping design and science to create gorgeous products. Both sides seemed to have come to a decision that the MKC already reflects—the balance of form and function.
To see this balance for yourself, keep an eye out for the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC in Lincoln showrooms this summer.
