Scrub a dub dub!

  • Tires – Salt, grime, and debris can do a number on your tires which are why they should be a primary concern when spring rolls around. Take the time to properly inspect each tire for any defects or abnormalities, such as bulges, bumps, and cuts. You should also make sure each tire is properly inflated to optimize the ride and fuel economy of your vehicle.
  • Belts and Hoses – Cold weather can cause parts like belts and hoses to become brittle. That can result in cracks or other abnormalities that can effect engine performance. Look over all the parts under the hood to ensure they’re all in proper working condition. If not, make an appointment at your local dealership service department.
  • Windshield Wipers – Spring may bring warm weather, but it can also bring heavy rain; this is why you should ensure your windshield wipers are in prime operating condition. Without windshield wipers, you could find yourself driving blind through a downpour.

These simple tips will help keep your car in top shape as we head into warmer weather. If there are maintenance issues that need professional help, feel free to contact us at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln!

Spring Car Cleaning

With the warmer weather rolling in, it may be time to clean your car. Here are a few spring car cleaning tips from us here at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln.

Many drivers struggle to keep their car clean during winter, which is why the upcoming warm weather makes for the perfect opportunity to tidy up! Get rid of trash and make sure there’s nothing blocking your view of the road. Here are a few spring car cleaning tips from us here at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln.

  • Compartments – There’s little doubt that trash has found its way into storage compartments throughout your car. Take a trash bag and set out on a mission to eliminate all fast food bags, wrappers, and receipts (that you don’t need) from the interior. Check the center console, cup holders, glove compartment, and any other convenient storage spaces.
  • Windows – Spotless windows can only enhance how good of a driver you are! Make sure you have maximum visibility this spring by cleaning all the windows, including the windshield, until they shine. Make sure to get both the inside and outside.
  • Wipers – Visibility is the key to driving safely, which is why ensuring you have an efficient set of wipers is a necessity on the road. Fortunately, wiper blades are one of the cheapest parts of a car to replace and they only take a few minutes to install. Check your owner’s manual for specific instructions for your make and model.

The 5-Star Safety Ratings Program: What Is It, Where to Find Scores

Lincoln Welcomes Customers with Customized Showroom ScentFord logo

One of the most reliable ways to determine the safety of vehicle is to check it the safety rating it was assigned by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which has been scoring vehicles’ safety since 1978.

The NHTSA’s 5-Star Safety Ratings Program has been continually evolving since then, adapting to the latest safety technology. Today, the program evaluates both crash protection and rollover safety, making its scores remarkably thorough. In fact – the NHTSA is the only organization that rates rollover resistance as well as frontal and side crash protection.

The scoring is simple. There are five possible stars that a vehicle can earn, where only receiving one star is the worst possible score and five stars is equivalent to the best possible score. Any vehicle that gets a 5-Star Safety Rating from the NHTSA reflects the best that the industry has to offer, while 4-Star vehicles are also impressively safe.

You can look up the specific safety ratings of vehicles here, at, to see where your prospective vehicle lies on the spectrum. One thing is for sure: when it comes to safety ratings, the NHTSA has your back.

Hybrid Car Maintenance Tips

Lincoln MKZ hybrid - hybrid car maintenance tips

Hybrid cars have a lot in common mechanically with non-hybrids, but since it has an electric motor in addition to its gasoline engine and other specialized parts like regenerative brakes, they require special—and often extra—maintenance you don’t have to do for other cars. If you own a hybrid, make sure you’re following these hybrid car maintenance tips.

One of the most important parts of a hybrid, even more so than in a purely gas-powered car, is the battery. Check it once a month to make sure the terminals aren’t corroding and the connections are tight.

If you notice issues with the electric motor or the engine, take your car to your dealership to get it checked out. It’s really best to talk to a dealership technician in this case and not a private mechanic—hybrid technology still isn’t common knowledge amongst independent shops.

Much of routine maintenance is the same as any other car—you can still check the fluids and top them off, change your spark plugs and windshield wipers, and so on. But if it’s under the hood, you should let the professionals handle it. Also, avoid anything wrapped in orange casing—It might shock you, and we don’t want you to injure yourself!

How to Test Drive a Car

happy family - test drive a car

Do you know what to look for when you get behind the wheel of a car? If not, you could be making the wrong choice. Taking a test drive is one of the most important parts of buying a car. That’s why you should know the signs on whether you could pass or buy the car. Take these tips on how to test drive a car from us here at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln!

  • Comfort Level – When you first get behind the wheel, make sure you can adjust the seat to your liking, see out the windshield, and adjust the temperature of the heat and air conditioning. If you drive with passengers often, it may be a good idea to bring them along for the ride. If you aren’t comfortable, pass and keep looking for the car that’s right for you.
  • Driving – Once you’ve hit pavement, it’s time to keep your eyes and ears open. Accelerate to hear the engine and brake to see how the car reacts. If something sounds off, take that into consideration. Make sure you drive on terrain similar to what you drive on most often. If the car can’t handle it, move on.
  • Deciding – After the test drive, take a few days before deciding whether you want to buy the car or not. Doing so could save you a bundle in the near future. Examine both the good and the bad, and make your decision from there.

Learn to Protect Your Vehicle’s Paint This Winter with Preventative Measures

Your car’s precious paint job is never in greater jeopardy than during the winter months, when snow, slush, ice spray, and more constantly coat the vehicle’s exterior, causing extra corrosion. Although we don’t have much snow to worry about down here in Florida, lots of us have family living up in the north that do.

<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-419" src="http://fordlincolncrystalriver achat cialis en” alt=”Protect Your Vehicle’s Paint” width=”2048″ height=”1456″ srcset=” 2048w,×213.jpg 300w,×728.jpg 1024w,×444.jpg 624w” sizes=”(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px” />

Another significant factor to winter paint damage is rock salt, which not only adds friction to your tires, but also to your paint. Fortunately, there are some easy ways to combat this phenomenon.

To protect your vehicle’s paint from winter weather, take care of any scratches or dents before the season begins. Then, apply a quality layer of wax to the car, which will make it more difficult for rust to settle in.

Be sure to wash your vehicle regularly throughout the season – even more often than you would during other months. And lastly, whenever possible, avoid parking your vehicle outside or driving it in the snow at all.

Make sure to pass this information along to all your friends up north! Here at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln, we have tons of vehicles that’ll keep you driving safe and in style this season.
