Nobody likes spending money on gas. We’re sure there are countless other things you would rather do with your money, like buy a new Lincoln, than put it directly into your gas tank. We feel your pain. Here are a few simple tips to help increase your fuel efficiency and keep more money in your pocket.
- Slow down. If you like to drive a little faster than everyone else, or always have a “5-over” rule on the highway, try driving the speed limit for a week and track your gas mileage, you may be surprised how much you’re saving. According to Edmunds.com, driving the speed limit can save up to 14 percent more gas.
- Take your time. Don’t drive like you’re in a drag race at every light and slam on the brakes at the last second. Accelerate moderately and brake slowly. And, if you’re on the highway, use your cruise control to maintain speed.
- Drive less. Try combining your errands into one outing. Or, maybe you could even walk or ride your bike to your destination. Since spring is finally on its way, it would be nice to get some fresh air.
If you’re looking for a more gas-friendly car, consider the 2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. It offers class-leading fuel efficiency at 45 mpg combined.
