Keeping with its unofficial “Go Big or Go Home” motto, Ford is making a massive investment in the next-generation Focus. The compact car will be produced in Germany and the facility is getting some major upgrades in order to optimize production and handle the new model. Additionally, the factory will also go green with new energy-supply systems.
What’s next for the Focus?
Ford is doubling down on its European market with a major investment in a production facility. The German facility will build the next-generation Ford Focus, a compact car that continues to sell well, thanks to its affordability and quality.
In an effort to prove that Germany truly is a major part of Ford, the automaker invested a massive $644 million in the production facility. The plant will receive new press systems that can process steel into car parts; the new presses will result in a lightweight design that offers increased fuel economy.
The major investment will also add new energy-supply systems that will reduce the facility’s emissions by up to 20%. Worth noting is that Ford’s German production facility currently employs around 25,000 people, so these new advancements are exciting for many.
“This €600 million investment reconfirms Ford’s continuing commitment to Germany, our main centre of operations in Europe,” said Jim Farley, president and CEO, Ford of Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
Spring is here, which means warmer weather is on the horizon! Now is a great time to take care of any lingering maintenance items. We here at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln have a few helpful spring car maintenance tips to optimize your vehicle’s performance during the warmer weather.
Scrub a dub dub!
Tires – Salt, grime, and debris can do a number on your tires which are why they should be a primary concern when spring rolls around. Take the time to properly inspect each tire for any defects or abnormalities, such as bulges, bumps, and cuts. You should also make sure each tire is properly inflated to optimize the ride and fuel economy of your vehicle.
Belts and Hoses – Cold weather can cause parts like belts and hoses to become brittle. That can result in cracks or other abnormalities that can effect engine performance. Look over all the parts under the hood to ensure they’re all in proper working condition. If not, make an appointment at your local dealership service department.
Windshield Wipers – Spring may bring warm weather, but it can also bring heavy rain; this is why you should ensure your windshield wipers are in prime operating condition. Without windshield wipers, you could find yourself driving blind through a downpour.
These simple tips will help keep your car in top shape as we head into warmer weather. If there are maintenance issues that need professional help, feel free to contact us at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln!
American drivers carry a lot of stuff in their cars, from dirty soccer balls, to fragile flowers, to heavy-duty strollers. We need a cargo space that is versatile and can handle everything we throw at it. The all-new 2018 Ford EcoSport comes with a unique cargo feature that was inspired by honeybees.
2018 Ford EcoSport
The EcoSport Adjustable Cargo Shelf uses a honeycomb design to create a thin, lightweight shelf that can support nearly 700 pounds, despite weighing only six pounds itself. Additionally, the honeycomb inner structure is made using 100% recycled paper. This means eco-conscience drivers can still keep their impact small even while getting a great vehicle.
“The hexagonal design of honeycomb is a testament to nature’s ingenuity,” says Mike Mazzella, Ford EcoSport assistant chief engineer. “Not only is it strong, it’s superlight. Customers can slide the shelf into multiple different slots like an oven rack; even store it on the back of the seats. It helps make EcoSport super-flexible in everyday use.”

Get rid of trash and make sure there’s nothing blocking your view of the road. Here are a few spring car cleaning tips from us here at Nick Nicholas Ford Lincoln.
Compartments – There’s little doubt that trash has found its way into storage compartments throughout your car. Check the center console, cup holders, glove compartment, and any other convenient storage spaces.
Windows – Spotless windows can only enhance how good of a driver you are! Make sure you have maximum visibility this spring by cleaning all the windows, including the windshield, until they shine. Make sure to get both the inside and outside.
Wipers – Visibility is the key to driving safely, which is why ensuring you have an efficient set of wipers is a necessity on the road. Fortunately, wiper blades are one of the cheapest parts of a car to replace and they only take a few minutes to install. Check your owner’s manual for specific instructions for your make and model.
